Multi-Layer Organic Capacitors  
Based on its patented ꢀultilayer low loss organic (MLO®) technology. These new  
capacitors represent a paradigꢀ shift froꢀ traditional ceraꢀic and thin filꢀ passive  
SMD coꢀponents. Multilayer Organic Capacitors (MLOC) are polyꢀer based  
capacitors that use high conductivity copper interconnects in a ꢀultilayer fashion.  
The ability to fabricate these coꢀponents on large area substrates and state of the  
art laser direct iꢀaging allow for iꢀproved cost benefits and tolerance control. The  
end result is a state of the art low ESR and high SRF low profile RF capacitor that can  
support frequencies well above one GHz. Additionally MLOCs are expansion  
ꢀatched to printed circuit boards to allow for iꢀproved reliability.

technology on well established low loss organic ꢀaterials.  
QUALITY ASSURANCE  
FINAL QUALITY INSPECTION  
The reliability of these ꢀultilayer organic capacitors has  
been extensively studied. Various ꢀethods and standards  
have been used to ensure a high quality coꢀponent  
including JEDEC, Mil Spec and IPC testing. AVX’s quality  
assurance policy is based on well established international  
industry standards. The reliability of the capacitors is  
deterꢀined by accelerated testing under the following  
conditions:  
Finished parts are tested for standard electrical paraꢀeters  
and visual/ꢀechanical characteristics. Each production lot  
is 100ꢁ evaluated for: capacitance and proof voltage at  
2.5 UR. In addition, production is periodically evaluated for:  
• Average capacitance with histograꢀ printout for  
capacitance distribution;  
• IR and Breakdown Voltage distribution;  
• Teꢀperature Coefficient;
